Our History


A.A. Will Materials traces back its roots to 1886 when 4th generation owner Frank Will and 5th generation son Kevin Will’s great great grandfather Alex Will started his own construction company A.A. Will Corp. in Milton, MA. Today with its rich history and strong legacy, A.A. Will Materials is one of the largest and most respected landscape, custom soil, and aggregate suppliers in the Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts region. 

Timeline


  1. 1886

    Established 1886 Milton MA. Alexander A. Will worked construction moving and hauling materials with "teams" of horses upwards of 50.

  2. 1924

    Alex's son Duncan assumed control of Company at the turn of the century and continued to expand operations through World War I and the Roaring 20's" till his untimely passing in 1924. His wife Nora B. Will with 3 children under 6 years old took over the reins as horses were gradually replaced with trucks and heavy equipment. The Great Depression of the late 20's and 30's led to difficult times but Nora carried on.

  3. 1937

    1937 saw Nora's 2 son's Forbes and Alex form a partnership and begin acquiring second hand equipment ready to work. World War II saw lots of Government work and War related growth.

  4. 1950's to 1960's

    1950's & 1960's saw the Company acquire gravel processing plants in Easton,Canton, Weymouth and Brockton. The brothers continued to expand their excavating business and real estate development interests.

  5. 1970

    1970 saw the Company relocate the corporate office to newly acquired Stoughton Sand & Gravel site on rte 138 from Milton. Alex's sons Frank and Sandy assumed control with Frank heading up materials and real estate development while Sandy oversaw excavation and heavy construction.

  6. 1980's

    1980's saw the acquisition of numerous material reserves, the 750 acre Lakeville Sand & Gravel property and the 450 acre Freetown Quarry Processing Plants. In 1986 the Company celebrated it's 100th Anniversary with a Gala celebration @ Historic Fanuel Hall Marketplace Boston.

  7. 1990's to 2000's

    1990's and early 2000's saw the Company diversify into the residential do it yourself market with an ever growing landscape and hardscape line of materials. The real estate division saw significant residential housing development on company owned properties.

  8. 2000's to Today

    Late 2000's saw Frank's son Kevin join the team as the Fifth Generation family member. Today entering our 135th year A A Will Materials provides a full line of aggregates, landscape and hardscape materials to the Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts region.
